The new
FCBM-VDev USB 3.0 Interface Board now offered by Aegis Electronic Group was specifically created to interact with Sony’s ultra-compact FCB-MA micro camera modules and is a perfect plug and play solution. When combined, they provide users with a simplistic method of connecting and operating the camera for professional image processing. A USB host computer provides power permitting easy, single cable operation.
All of the camera’s features, including automatic control of exposure time, gain, white balance, zoom, autofocus, facial detection, ATR (dynamic range control) and color correction are supported by the Board, and like the camera, it supports Full HD 1080p video streaming at 30 images per second, and the capturing of single-frame shot, still images up to 13 mega pixels.
The straightforward joining of an FCB-MA micro camera by a bespoke FCC cable (acting as an interface between the camera and the production control center), connects to the CMOS parallel interface and the I2C control lines. The FPGA (field-programmable gate array) circuit on board then adapts instructions received by the USB to the correct 12C protocol directives on the camera, and the data is then read by a DMA (Direct Memory Access) channel on the FPGA and sent to the USB3.0 channel. As diminutive as the FCB-MA micro camera, the
FCBM-VDev USB 3.0 interface board weighs only 0.21 ounces (6 grams) and is 1.34W x 0.40H x 0.39D inches (34mm x 12,5mm x 10mm) in size.
