The new Kowa LM25JCM Megapixel Lens will now shape the way a lens is chosen for high vibration and high shock environments.
With a 25mm focal length, the LM25JCM megapixel fixed focal lens maintains Kowa's standard 2/3" JCM lens size, with a M27 x 0.5 filter and is extremely beneficial in applications requiring a sensor size of 2/3" (Φ11mm) or smaller.

Kowa LM25JCM 25mm Megapixel Machine Vision, Anti-Vibration Lens[/caption]
This innovative Kowa Megapixel 6 Lens series contains focal lengths ranging from 8mm, 12mm, 16mm, 25mm, 35mm and 50mm. Specifically created for use in high vibration and high shock environments, these ruggedized megapixel lens are ideal for applications requiring improved durability and resilience, coupled with optimum optical performance. The Kowa American Corporation, a division of Kowa Company Limited, is one of the foremost and significant privately held companies in Japan.
Kowa has now consciously restricted the number of moving parts of the lens, thus eliminating the unintended movement of focus and iris rings, and with it, their possible repositioning from their original settings. A two-way reversible nut now secures the focus adjustable iris ring in position, providing extremely low (-0.07%) distortion. All internal glass components are glued (Lock Tight) to the interior housing, not only greatly increasing its stability and strength, but also protecting the lens against intense vibration.
Resolution for the
Kowa LM25JCM in the center is 120 lines pairs per millimeter (120lp/mm), and 100 lines pairs per millimeter in the corners (100lp/mm), equaling approximately 4.17 microns of resolving power. As such, the lens produces crystal clear images even at lengthy distances. Thanks to this exceptional corner illumination, image edges are free of fading. With a choice of four interchangeable iris blades that vary from completely open (F1.4 with the exception of the 35mm which has a F2.0 and 50mm which has a F2.8) to F4, F8 and F16, it delivers the ability to adjust the F-stop while advantageously preserving a fixed iris essentially without any discernable parts. Simplistic iris changing is possible by unscrewing the iris (counter-clockwise), removing the iris blade, inserting the desired iris blade, and screwing back the front lens section. This floating mechanism allows for the removal of optical shaking from close distances to infinity.
The standard focus ring on a machine vision lens has also been reinvented, with a red, two-way reversible nut. This is secured by attaching the lens to the camera, then simply adjusting the front portion of the lens until the desired picture clarity is obtained. Hand rotation of the red ring permits it to be completely tightened, allowing the lens to be locked in place.
This
Kowa LM25JCM C-Mount lens is a mere 1.30” x 1.56” (Φ33mm x 39.5mm) in size and weighs a scant 3.14 ounces (89 grams). It is able to withstand temperature range fluctuations from 14 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit (-10° to +50°C), again, without optical distortion due to shaking or vibration - perfect for megapixel cameras in the creation of high-resolution imaging.
Ideally suited for inspection, factory automation and NIR/SWIR (Near InfraRed/Short Wave-InfraRed), this lens is specifically made for “fast moving high G Force applications in machine vision or other industrial applications where cameras are used." Cost-effective with superior resolution, the
Kowa LM25JCM and Kowa Megapixel 6 Lens series, take their innovative precision floating lens mechanism seriously, and so will the application chosen for its use.
