SRG-120DU, Sony's first FHD, remotely operated, PTZ video camera with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 capability.
The presence of a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface permits high-speed data transfer up to 5 Giga bytes per second (Gbps), of uncompressed 1080/60p video to a connected Personal Computer (PC) using standard UVC drivers, and eliminates the need for additional driver installation, on any operating system that supports USB 3.0 devices. Expert video communications in the PC setting, excels in recordings for corporate board rooms, education, lecture series, medical suites and classroom videoconferencing. Whether directly connected to a PC via USB3.0, or remotely controlled over a standard IP network, the
SRG-120DU’s services uniquely benefit software-based video-conferencing systems, UCC (Unified Communications and Collaboration) and multimedia streaming systems. Easy remote operation exists, with single-cable connection from camera to PC. Expanding their existing SRG PTZ line with this new camera, Sony’s new
SRG-120DU takes its place right along with their SRG-300SE, SRG-120DH and SRG-300H PTZ cameras. The
SRG-120DU can be controlled from a connected PC, with support for UVC control via USB and VISCA over USB, as well as VISCA over IP and RS-232C. The camera is also compatible with the Sony RM-IP10 IP Remote Controller, enabling comfortable pan, tilt, and zoom operation using a three-axis joystick.

SRG-120DU by Sony is Their Newest USB 3.0 FHD PTZ Block Camera[/caption]
With its 1/2.8-type Exmor® CMOS (Complementary Metal–Oxide–Semiconductor) Sensor, this FHD resolution camera excels with Sony’s latest imaging capability. This remote PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) camera unites plug-and-play simplicity with outstanding imaging quality (1920 x 1080). Achieving excellence in clear imaging in extreme low-light conditions, the XDNR® (eXcellent Dynamic Noise Reduction) Noise Reduction Technology in this IP camera employs 2-dimensional (2D) and 3-dimensional (3D) noise reduction approaches adaptively to scenes. This provides flawless imaging for both moving objects and still image portions, while minimizing motion blur, which can be challenging in many outdoor surveillance monitoring applications.
Its 12x optical zoom range together with a 12x digital zoom (totaling 144x high power zoom) allows for close-ups that become frame-filling, and specific details are refined with optimum clarity. With a quick to respond autofocus, images remain sharp and clear, even at high zoom settings. The Pan angle on the
SRG-120DU is ±100° at 300° per second; Tilt angle is ±25° at 126° per second, thanks to a 71 degree horizontal viewing angle, all participants in a meeting room are easily observed.
With multiple White Balance modes (auto, indoor, outdoor, one-push auto, ATW (Auto Tracing White), and manual, the
SRG-120DU camera assures that white objects in videos appear white, and colors appear natural, mimicking the colors eyes see while recording the scene. 16 pre-programmable settings (controllable via VISCA™ Protocol) permit quick transition from one camera position to another, while six presets can be retrieved by means of an IR remote commander.
This small, silver-housed PTZ camera is only (153 × 156 × 153 mm), and weighs pounds 8.4 ounces (1.6 kg), making for a light, compact, all-in-one, easy integration into multiple locations and applications. Have a noise restricted environment, i.e., hospital, classroom, meeting room, the
SRG-120DU allows these areas to become professional video collaboration environments.
When applications with the
SRG-120DU PTZ camera require additional length cabling, Icron Technologies Corporation 1-Port 15m Active Copper Extension Cable is a strong, single-port USB 3.0 SuperSpeed active copper extension cable. Traditional USB 3.0’s distance limit is approximately 3 meters, or just under 10 feet, and sometimes this is not enough cable to accomplish the task. When an additional up to 15 meters (49.21 feet) of distance is necessary, this Icron USB 3.0 Spectra™ 3001-15 1-Port 15m achieves the necessary additional cable distance prerequisite.

Icron USB 3.0 Spectra™ 3001-15 1-Port 15m Active Copper Extension Cable[/caption]
Supporting a throughput of 5Gbps, the cable has a durable, locking USB port (as specified by AIA USB3 Vision™) on the device side providing 5V/900mA power, and is bus powered so there is no need for an external power supply. A real plug-and-play solution, this Spectra 3001-15 cable is well-matched with all leading operating systems (Windows®, Mac OS X®, and Linux®), and a second USB power connector can be used if additional power is necessary. However, this cable is not backward compatible with USB 2.0/1.1.
Physically, the Spectra 3001-15 cable has one USB 3.0 Type A host connector on the host side and one USB Type A Power Connector (required for devices drawing more than 2.5W). The cable is 6.9 mm (0.27 inches) in diameter, with a PVC jacket, and its bending radius is 28mm (1.10 inch), with mounting slots on the device for a cable tie. Perfectly compatible with the Sony SRG-120DU PTZ video camera, this cable will sometimes save the day for a lengthy installation.
Thanks to this solution from Icron Technologies, with the USB 3.0 Spectra™ 3001-15 cable, machine vision applications for specific applications, can now take place with the assurance that distance of operation, and cable length will not deter the process. Now the ability to accomplish previously unattainable tasks is at your very finger tips.
With Pleora’s iPORT SB-U3 external frame grabber for Sony block cameras, installations are able to use a broader selection of smaller form factor and lower-power computing platforms, including laptops, embedded systems, and tablets. By transmitting full-resolution video, with low and predictable latency over a standard USB 3.0 port, power, control, and video are transmitted over the same cable – and eliminates the need for a desktop PC with an available peripheral card slot for a traditional frame grabber.
