If the cost of long distance cabling is preventing you from making the move to high-resolution digital cameras, CoaXPress is the answer. CoaXPress (CXP) is simply a standard of moving data at a very high-speed from the camera to the frame grabber via a coaxial cable. A coaxial cable is much like what you have in your home from the cable company. In addition to moving data, setting control commands and triggers, the coaxial cable also supplies power to the camera. By making the move to CoaXPress, you will not only acquire high-resolution, but also the simplicity it provides. Distance cabling restrictions are no longer an issue!
As you can see from the BNC connectors, the Bitflow Karbon frame grabber shown is CoaXPress compatible. Back in 2011 we actually talked about this particular frame grabber and the amazing capabilities it has with CXP. Along with a better quality image over analog with a simpler infrastructure, the Bitflow frame grabber could, “transmit power, control commands and triggers at 20 Megabits /Second (Mb/S) over a single piece of standard 75 Ohm coaxial cable.”
CoaXPress, next to USB 3.0, was one of the most sought out innovations at this year’s Automate 2013 show. Check out our other blogs about CoaXpress along with our CoaXpress products.
