Inspiration by Sony: Black and White or Color, Your Choice!
XCL-SG510 (black and white) and
XCL-SG510C (color) digital video camera modules have emerged as Sony’s
newest Cameralink interface video cameras. Armed with a high-speed IMX250 5.1MP GS CMOS sensor highlighting Sony Pregius
TM Global Shutter (GS) CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor) sensor, Sony once again delivers with nothing but the best. XCL-SG510 The integration of unsurpassed Sony technology, concisely packaged in a small body, allows for optimal use in Industrial Vision and non-manufacturing vision markets.
Sony introduced GS CMOS imaging in 2014, introducing its new Pregius
TM technology, delivering not only fast frame rates, but also CCD-like (Charge-Coupled Device) imaging execution. Elevating CMOS image quality allows for a practical alternate to many CCD sensors. Both the XCL-SG510 and its color partner, the
XCL-SG510C have 2/3-type CMOS image sensors with global shuttering function (Pregius
TM), and 2,464 x 2,056 effective pixels. They also have an RS232C serial interface, and LVDS (Low-Voltage Differential Signaling) digital interface. With Pregius
TM high sensitivity technology, these cameras have quite a large visibility area, even in challenging lighting environments.

Exceptional imaging processing skills allows both camera models the ability for wide dynamic range, frame accumulation, area exposure, and area gain, thanks to Sony’s GS CMOS Pregius technology. With their high frame rate of image transfer, these cameras are able to recognize 5.1-megapixel resolution utilizing up to 154 frames per second (8-bit x 10 tap) frames per second, and has additional, selectable frame rates. When recoding video, these cameras capture rapidly moving subjects, all-the-while maintaining crisp, clear imaging. With the Pregius
TM high sensitivity technology, these cameras have large visibility, even in challenging lighting environments.
Thanks to their embedded shading correction and Pregius
TM sensor technology, the
XCL-SG510 and
XCL-SG510C cameras reduce unequal image intensities often caused by lenses or lighting. Internal hardware processing lowers external image correction requirements usually achieved by a PC and frame grabber. Having this function streamlines processing tasks and lessens the PC’s processing burden. With their ability to instinctively eliminate faulty pixels within the imaging area, image processing is made that much easier.
While pocket-sized, at 1-3/4 x 1-3/4x 1-3/16 inches (44mm x 44mm x 30mm), excluding protrusions, and lightweight at 3.4 ounces (96g), these cameras have both a high 10G (20Hz to 200 Hz) vibration tolerance, and high shock resistance of 70G.
Small, strong and mighty!

Differences between XCL-SG510 and XCL-SG510C cameras:
- Color filter: the XCL-SG510C has one, and the black and white model does not
- Minimum illumination (at 50%): the XCL-SG510 has 0.5 lx (Iris: F1.4, Gain: +18 dB, Shutter: 1/30 s), and the XCL-SG510C has 12 lx (Iris: F1.4, Gain: +18 dB, Shutter: 1/30 s)
- Sensitivity: the black and white model (XCL-SG510) has F5.6 (400 lx, Gain: 0 dB, shutter1/30s) while the color model (XCL-SG510C ) has F5.6 (2000 lx, Gain: 0 dB, shutter 1/30s)
- Readout modes: the XCL-SG510’s modes are Normal, Binning (2 x 1, 1 x 2, and 2 x 2), Partial Scan, Multi ROI, while the XCL-SG510C has Normal, Partial Scan, and Multi ROI
- Video data output varies from camera to camera, with the XCL-SG510 having digital Mono 8, 10, 12, 16-bit, and the color XCL-SG510C has digital Raw 8, 10, 12, 16-bit, Raw and digital.
Applications, you might ask? The
XCL-SG510 and
XCL-SG510C video cameras are ideal for Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS), factory automation, food, beverage inspection and pharmaceutical applications. Endless possibilities are waiting for the
XCL-SG510 and
XCL-SG510C cameras, and are just waiting to be identified.
Both cameras are equipped with an internal temperature sensor. A host device receives temperature readout information by issuing a command (negating the need for a separate sensor), which simplifies system configuration. Up to 16 additional camera memory considerations (including brightness, gamma, shutter, gain, and trigger mode),
plus factory default settings, can be preset to enhance scene requirements.
XCL-SG510 and
XCL-SH510C cameras bring exceptional image processing features to the application. Wide dynamic range and frame accumulation, area gain, defection correction and shading correction are a few of these great camera features. Yes, the result is
form and function from the steadfast Sony name.
